Car taken to be assessed? How long should it take.

My car was taken away on Tuesday morning by the insuraers garage and I still haven't heard anything yet. I've phoned both the garage and insurers and they just pass the buck. I'm stuck without a car and don't want to hire the a car incase they can fix it, which they would then give me a car for, but I need to know if they will write it off (which I'm pretty sure they will) then I can hire a car and start looking for another. I seem to be stuck and not sure why.

I think its the old story, as it is everywhere,i.e how much work they have got on.As they say, he/or she who shouts loudest gets sorted first.Keep ringing them and tell them you need to know as you have arrangements to make, are going on a trip or on holiday, any old rubbish to make them do something!!GOOD LUCK.
