Paying to right Acc No. but wrong name

Hi,

Is there a problem if you make a bank transfer payment to someone, but you get the account number & sort code right but the name wrong? Will that person still get the payment without any problem?

The name isn't checked on a faster payment.

The name is only for your reference (to store it in your list of payees), it's not transmitted to the receiving bank.

So if you have the correct sort code and account number, it'll get there.

Please double-check your facts. Payments are sent solely by sort code and account number. Make a mistake and it's the sender's fault, whatever the Daily Fail may imply.

If in doubt send a test payment of £1 first to ensure you thav the payee's details correct.

The correct answer is that it depends!

There is no name checks on faster payments but certainly CHAPS PAYMENTS ARE CHECKED.

For what they cost they should be as well! Heck, you should get a receipt printed on gold paper.
