Planning on making lamb pilaff for tea, but as always I'm one ingredient short. This time it's arborio rice I haven't got, but I do have a full tub of pudding rice. Would this be ok to use instead, and would the results be comparable. I think the answer's yes, but I just want to check before I go ahead.
Thanks.
Otherwise any idea what to make with minced lamb, onion, garlic, tin toms and lots of different herbs and spices that doesn't take all afternoon and doesn't make too many dishes?
Thanks.

You can definitely make a risotto with pudding rice. But a pilaff is made with long grain rice, it's a dry rice dish rather than wet like risotto0

Thanks for that thriftlady, got the recipe from this month's Asda mag, so will go and check that I've not written it down wrong!!0

The recipe suggests to use "arborio risotto rice"
Help - I've been thrown into confusion!!!0 -
Right, i've googled, and generally the recipes call for long grain rice, although one said to use "converted rice"
, so I'm taking thriftlady's advice and using some Tilda long grain. What do Asda know anyway??

Obviously not a lot about rice :rotfl:
I'd use long grain tooDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Well, just had lamb pilaff, and as recommended by thriftlady I used long grain rice. It was absolutely delicious, such a beautiful flavour. Of course, the kids didn't like it, but to their credit, they did try it. They're in the garden now eating cheese wraps made with HM tortillas!
Just got a bit of pilaff left in the fridge - it'll do for supper later.0
