Internet loses connection same time

Hi,
My internet loses it's connection every evening at about the same time ( 7 ish ). prior to this it goes into very slow mode for a few minutes. If I restart the router it's fine again. My neighbours don't have this problem so I'm assuming it's not the bt line. I've contacted my isp several times ( demon ) only to be fobbed off or ignored each time.
I have no jobs or scans etc running at this time.
I know it's not a major issue but if you're halfway through a decent hand of poker it can be a pain
Any ideas to resolve appreciated
Thanks

How are you connecting? Ethernet or wireless? If the latter, connect by ethernet from the master socket and retest. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Is someone else connecting? Or are iPads etc suddenly drawing down a heap of data? Could something on the 2.4GHz band be being switched on and weakening all the signals (eg a TV sender in your house, or even next door)?
I would change the router password *and* the router admin password for starters, then see if the problem goes away.
If it's still an issue, can you operate in the 5GHz band? Not sure what kit supports it or even if it's allowed yet, but if your router and laptop both support it then give it a try as it's a LOT quieter than 2.4GHz which is frankly chock-full.0 -
Evening speed reductions are usually a result of contention issues. If so, time to get a new ISP.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

What ISP are you with? My one at uni slowed our connection at peak times because we were heavy users apparently!
I have an issue with my router sometimes, usually about 1am it disconnects, then either reconnects minutes later or I have to turn the router on or off again!0 -
I'm with Demon. Their support is pretty rubbish, they just send a standard reply of things to check and once you've done that they ignore any further e-mails.
Time to change I think
plusnet looks like favourite up to now0 -
I didn't even think Demon were still operating (as an ISP)...it's now a subsidiary of Cable & Wireless I believe. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

We are with Demon also and noticed the same problem just recently. Occurs at odd times and odd days but quick reset of the router and its back to normal.
I think they must be working on something...very odd for a reliable service like they have.0 -
It's been doing this for a few months now. They are not the cheapest by far but up until now it was the reliabilty that I was prepared to pay for along with support which is now rubbish.0
