Parkdean trecco bay Wales

Has anybody stayed here before and I'd so did you visit anywhere interesting?
Not been to Wales since I was 6, and now I have my own two children. I'm wanting to know is the site good and is their anything that will keep us all occupied whilst on our jollys?

I went last May, Mon to Fri short break with children of 1 and 3, and 10. It suited our needs, the site was clean and tidy, staff friendly. Entertainment great for us. We went into porthcawl one day, enjoyed the beach and walked along the front. I would go back happily. It all depends what your looking for

  • There are far, far nicer places to spend your holidays than Porthcawl if I'm completely honest. It isn't the best.
  • ^^

    More than likely from Porthcawl.

I live roughly about 25 min drive from Porthcawl and can't complain tbh.
Have gone with my family (have a very young sister), and there's plenty to do.
  • if you are coming to Wales, then my advice is, Go west.....

Best park in Wales is Lydstep Beach in my opinion been going there since I was 6. Its a Haven park on a private beach. To keep prices down book private not directly check out www.lydstepcaravanhire.co.uk

  • I live about a five minute drive from Trecco Bay. The site itself is really nice, with lots of entertainment. There are a few beaches in Porthcawl, one of which is accessed from the caravan site. I prefer Rest Bay though, which is in Porthcawl but a little further away from Trecco Bay.

It all depends what kind of stuff you like to do, and how far you want to travel from the site once there.

Porthcawl town is OK and there are plenty of ice cream places along the sea front. There's a fair and donkey rides for the kids, but I'd recommend going to the fair on a Friday after 5pm as it's half price :)

A few miles away from Porthcawl is Margam Park, which is great for the kids but also lovely for adults too. Lovely walks, a couple of lakes, a mini railway, farm, play park for the kids and really nice scenery.

Near Bridgend there's Bryngarw Park which also has lovely scenic walks and kids park.

For rainy days there's the cinema at Bridgend, or there's stuff to do at Trecco Bay too, like swimming, Jungle Jims and I think they have a little bowling alley there too.

There's loads of other places of interest, but it all depends what you are after :)

We have stayed at several holiday parks on Sun deals and we really liked Trecco bay. It's large, modern, lots of facilities for kids. The beach right by the park isn't the best but there are nice beaches further afield. Parkdean and Haven are the 2 operators we usually try and book with, as the cleanliness and the entertainment is more consistent that some of the other smaller operators.

Reason for this part of Wales is because dh was born near here and ain't been back since he was a baby so I thought I'd surprise him with a visit/holiday.

Like others on here I live near to Porthcawl. One thing - check out what is on in the Pavilion which is right in Porthcawl on the seafront. They may have a show on that is suitable for little ones.

There is a large duckpond in one of the parks and you can always take crusts etc to feed the ducks. Anyone will tell you how to walk there.
