wedding favours

I went to a wedding a while back that had the little charity badges as favours. There were all sorts, animal charities, British heart foundation, breast cancer etc. I thought it was a really nice touch.0

If it helps at all, I've just done little bags og chocolate eggs as ours is the week before Easter and it's cost me about 75p per person.
So depends how many guests you have and what you class as expensiveOfficially Mrs B as of March 2013

I'm doing 2 packets of mini love hearts with a personalised wrapper. I bought the wrappers off eBay already cut to size 200 for £10 and then bought bags of mini love hearts from Home Bargains 12 rolls for 79p. Add on the burgundy organza bags £2.99 for 100 from eBay and the grand total per person is £0.21. If people don't eat them I'm sure the kids will.
For the kids I'm doing a celophane bag with sweets which has worked out at less than £1 each.0 -
For our favours we did lottery tickets for £1 for the men and wine glass charms. For the ladies we gave forget me not seeds where i got something like 10,000 seeds for £6.99 off ebay and wine glass charms and also for the 2 pregnant ladies we had we gave these little baby bibs one in pink and one in blue for 39p each http://www.partydelights.co.uk/confirmitem.asp?ProductID=CRAF066 and for the kids we gave colouring books and colouring pencils that we got from the pound shop x

We gave people mugs from our venue (with a little bag of sugared almonds inside); the kids (under 12s) got plastic glasses with swirly straws (and a little bag of haribo).
Most people have said how much they like the mugs (and I see them in use when I visit people) and how nice it was to get a favour they could actually use, rather than something that just takes up space. We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

This sounds a lovely idea in principle - but I honestly think 99% of them will just get left on the table or binned. Granted this happens a lot with wedding favours anyway but seems a lot of work for something that will only be looked at for a minute...sorry...
This is exactly what I was going to say. Personally I also think it is slightly...Erm....tacky...(sorry!) but also I think you'd be putting a lot of work in for something that will get thrown away or left behind. What are people really going to do with a single penny or a single tea light, etc? Hope this doesn't seem too harsh, sorry.
I was going to make personalised biscuits as favours but I am swaying away from it now. Everyone I have spoken to has said not to bother, it is loads of work and no one will notice if there are any favours. Some if my guests I above spoken to have never even heard of favours so definitely won't notice if there aren't any! Went to a wedding recently where the groom's father had spent ages making little bags of home made tablet and most of them just got left on the tables. I am definitely veering away from favours!0 -
I'm making wine glass charms, they don't costs much maybe about 35p each and it people don't take them i'll just bung the rest on eBay after the wedding. My wedding is going to be quite small so it's only costing about £10. I am going to get the kids some colouring books and crayons/pencils from poundland or something to keep them amused.0

Hey Erin,
This is what I'd like to do for my favours, but I'm struggling a bit with knowing what kind of charms to use - if you don't mind me asking, what are you putting on yours, and where are you buying the charms from?

I bought all my bits from ebay!
I bought 100 hoops, some pink and green pastel beads 6mm and some ivory 4mm beads, I then bought 2 different style of heart charms from here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Jewellery-Making-/150045/i.html?Material=Silver&_from=&Type=Charms&_nkw=&_dmpt=UK_Crafts_JewelleryMaking_GL&_armrs=1&_ssn=ourbead&_ipg=200&rt=nc and ones that said made with love on them which I added to the charm then I put them together as
charm in the centre, two small ivory beads either side then a pink bead either side another ivory bead and then a green bead and another ivory bead and then added the made with love charm onto the left hand side.
If I can work out how to upload a photo I will do one later.0 -
I love the novelty of favours at weddings! And although short lived I still think they create a conversation starter. I made fudge for my friends wedding in slabs and then she cut them into hearts and put them in little homemade cones! The fudge was really easy we did a trial run and learnt it was still good to eat a week after making so i was able to make it 3 days before, soft chocolate fudge. If you want the recipe I would be more than happy to give it to you! I was thinking for my wedding a little jar of chutney (as we are having cheese in the evening) and shortbread, the marriage surname is walker and it makes me giggle that you can get walkers shortbread (although i would make my own). Alternatively i was thinking earrings, as i am able to make this and have most of the bits. Good luck, would love to know what you decide!2014 challenges:
