I love people who are cr*p at spelling and grammar and can't see the importance of it - it means that it puts people off their auctions, so more bargains for me!
I won a pushchair from someone who had the most awful ebay auction, littered with spelling mistakes, no punctuation or paragraphs. They also had a few negs for things stinking of smoke.
Well I took a gamble, and as anticipated, it DID reek of smoke, but after a week in the garden and some febreeze, it was as good as new, and half the price of others! Bargain!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I'm always amused by awful emails from companies trying to sell their services, written almost entirely in gibberish. I particularly enjoyed this one:
"Hi my friends,
Good day!
Thank you for reading my email. I’m Suly from [company name removed - I'm not that mean!]. Please allow me to introduce our company briefly.
We are an influential company dealing with printing for many years. Below is some information about us:
1. Products: books, catalogues, magazines, brochures, pictures alums, calendars etc.
2. Price: up to 35% lower than the cost of your local printers.
3. Advantages: low price, high quality, and professional service and fast logistic…
If you have any needs, please don’t hesitate to contact me. It's our great honor to work with you for our further cooperation."
Aside from removing the company name, I haven't changed a single letter. Needless to say, I didn't do them the honor to work with them for their further cooperation.0 -
Bwahaha - I have genuinely never, until today, heard of them referred to as 'Chester draws'!
I am hugely put off by posts written in Caps Lock - urgh! - but my personal pet peeve is over-use of the word 'stunning', as in 'stunning top, size 10...' or 'stunning lawnmower, hardly used...' I have no idea why it's the word 'stunning' in particular that I find irksome, but could perhaps put it down to the fact that every other sodding listing uses this term?!

Even worse, for me, are people who use "ie" when they mean "i.e."!Flickering_Ember wrote: »You're forgetting people who don't know the difference between "you're and your, those who want alot or abit, get "their" mixed up with "there" or don't know how to use apostrophes or change the spelling when something is plural, ie pony is not ponys or pony's!!!Philip0 -
I would like to join in with the increasingly common 'payed' instead of paid.
When quoting and replying to a message once,I put (sic) after the mistake. The originator replied wanting to know what 'sic' meant. I didn't have the heart to tell him.0 -
The ones that annoy me are those who use "i.e." when they mean "e.g.". Even eBay has been guilty of that one!GabbaGabbaHey wrote: »Even worse, for me, are people who use "ie" when they mean "i.e."!
I recently got a reply from a seller regarding a minor complaint about an item I'd purchased: he offered a partial refund as a "jester of goodwill".0 -

Actually this is now acceptable, according to a course I went on... There is no such thing as perfect grammar any more it seems.0 -
It really annoys me when sellers put 'ect' instead of 'etc'
Mind you I listed something a couple of weeks ago with the title 'Black Short Sleeved Top Size 12 with Short Sleeves' Obviously I was trying to get the point across that it had short sleeves.......Felt really stupid when I realised (I'm pregnant, I blame it on baby brain)Sealed pot member #1950 - £44.79
