1899, 18866 and 18185 Headache

I have unsubscribed from all three services recently with few pennies on my invoice thinking that they'll have them charged to my CC as usual after the cancellation. Now I am receiving emails saying that the payments from CC have been declined and asking me to login and change my payment details or pay by internet banking. The problem is I can no longer log into any of them as I have unsubscribed and cancelled my accounts. I mean how do they expect me to go and change my payment details after I canceled???
I also can't find it in the help anywhere on their websites and don't know how to contact them. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

You could pay them through your bank with your 1899... ... account number and tel no. You have to ask them by email what is their Account Details so that you could instruct your bank to do so, ie. telphone banking or internet transfer.

It worked for my friend, who has changed his CC but no internet connection.

If you really want to pay them the few pennies you owe just reregister to all three, they retain your payment info so shouldn’t be a problem. It’s known as Continuous payment authorities. Stay registered until they take your payments.

I personally don't think you should bother. It’s practically impossible to get a reply from them but if works for ffffffff's friend…….. well it's your call.

Thanks guys, emailed them asking for their details and will see what happens. Thanks for your help.

The reason I cancelled my accounts was that I didn't feel very comfortable having my card details with someone far away that you can't even talk to and who has a continuous authority to charge the card whenever they want. The other reason is that I am not using the landline a lot after getting more inclusive minutes with my mobile contract.

    Martin recomends Direct Debit.

    Did you know?

Authorising a regular payment off a credit card known as a ‘Continuous Payment Authority’ is much more dangerous a bank account ‘direct debit’. !The problem is you can’t cancel it, only the company its set up with can. !

The major, but not exclusive, culprit of such dodgy dealings are internet !!!!!! sites leaving people taking !‘embarassed’ monthly payments. !Always make sure any CPA is set up with a legit company, and try to use direct debts not credit cards. !I once reported on this for Moneybox, read a report based on that here

Insert of clarification: !Thought i should say, a CPA (also called a recurring transaction) applies if you do it off a debit as well as credit card. !You need to do a Direct Debit off your bank account, not a regular debit off any plastic.

I suppose the plus side of using direct debit is the direct debit guarantee you normally get from your bank/building society.

Good luck with your emailing Aiadi I'll be surprised if you get a reply.

I remember once canceling 18866 about 2 or 3yrs ago and then signing up again and was surprised to see all my details were still registered with them. I have to say though I've never had a problem regarding DD's only the service and that was extremely short lived, although I must say they do connect very slowly compared to BT or Primus.

Nice one BritBrat!! I sent them an email a while ago regarding something or other and haven't had a reply. Not the first time either. Can't remember for the life of me what it was, something to do with one of the threads on here.

I think I understand Aiadi's concern now. If you register your CC with these you want get section 73 protection unless you spend over £100 and that’s extremely unlikely. :rolleyes2

You are asking them how to pay them some money and it shold be given some priority by them. Good luck.

When one of my 1899 DD calls allegedly failed, they sent me a 'failed payment' e-mail with details of how to clear the account quickly - by making an electronic (BACS) payment from my bank account.
    Pay to: CONNECT TELECOM UK
    Sort code: 15-10-00
    Account number: 22069880
    Reference: Your 9-digit 1899, 18185 or 18866 A/C number
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
