I would do it, they haven't got a case to deny you your money back.

There were some articles in the Sunday papers recently stating that one company had just been fined quite heavily for mis-selling PPI, and the FSA are conducting an investigation into the whole racquet. I would be inclined not to phone them because you end up with a call centre that will try and fob you off. I would write stating your account numbers etc explain that you never benefited from the cover and expect a full refund.

You can contact the FO via their website at

    Hi,
Big Hugs to you. Just a thought can you car share with someone living close to you? I do that with a few girls at work and it has reduced my fuel bills. If not drive 5mph slower and you will notice the difference or better still is publuc transport an option?

Payment Protection almost certainly mis-sold if you were self employed. Write and demand it be refunded and your monthly cost reduced.

Would not recommend consolidating the Egg card into a loan if you can help it. What are the APRs?

    Amount of advance £35,500
    Protection insurance £6000 rip off
    Amount of Credit £41,500
    Broker Fee £1500 rip off
    Completion costs £500 rip off
Reading this now I think I've been done!! Me too, they are charging about 13% and they have taken £8,000 out of your pocket. At least !!!!!! Turpin wore a mask  Loan = £43500
Interest rate 10.75% fixed for initial period of one month (Wow) then 6% over the barclays base lending rate.
Does this make any sense? It says on the bottom Plan is Xpress O SC 4.75%
    Base rate + margin 10.75%
    [/QUOTE]

I would be inclined to refer the entire loan to the FOs office as I think it looks like they have charged you far too much.

I just spoke to them on the phone, and they have advised that I write in, but I will not get a full refund, only a refund possibly from when they receive the letter.

I wouldn't accept that, as you have then been charged for cover you never had because of you employment status, and which shouldn't have been sold to you. I would want the full £6000 plus any interest. It may be easier to refer it directly to the FO

The egg card at the moment has some cash balance and a higher rate of interest than the loan I am thinking of putting it on to. I already have a loan with Egg, so I am just moving the card balance to the loan, with a lower rate of 7.9%. I thought this was a better deal, and light at the end of the tunnel in 7 years time, and the option to pay off early when my other loan expires in June 2008. My house is worth approx. £185k. When I tried to add to my mortgage about 2 years ago, they would not do it. As soon as I ahve sorted this secured loan out, and got some sort of refund on part of it, I may try again to add it to my mortgage.
