home insurance

can any one help me.i damaged a dvd home cinema system that is now not available.it cost £500 four year ago.insurance co have offered £100 replacement,my excess is £100.should they pay the difference on the original dvd?

    Depends on your policy.

    Do you have New For Old cover. In that case they should replace it with a model of similar spec although bear in mind that prices have tumbled over the last 4 years.

    If it is a really old "Indemnity" policy they will only pay what the item is worth after deductions for wear and tear.

    Either way the figure could be right.

    dvd home cinema systems have dropped in price a lot for like for like systems. £200 is about right for a system that cost £500 4 years ago.
