Is roof tile vents enough with no sofit vents?

The condensation in my loft is terrible, and I am getting loft insulation fitted this week.

I have been recommended to install 4 roof tile vents to sort the problem.

I don't have any sofits so therefore can't have sofit vents, so do you have to have these to have cross ventilation in the loft, and therefore would be pointless having only roof tile vents?

My neighbour is installing gable end vents in the fascias, and doesnt have sofit vents or roof tile vents.

I have gone for the lapvent option in my loft after i insulated and am suffering condensation problems.
