Im running Vista and everything works and runs very smooth. It could be because I checked all drivers for hardware and all software I use is compatiable before getting it.

i want vista...just need printer to work

Yeah especially if it's for work.

We have 2 laptops - one with each. The Vista laptop takes longer to boot up and doesn't work with our scanner (printer driver was updated in april so is now ok)

However, once its up and running, Vista is shinier :)

I just assumed it would all be fine! Silly me.

Not sure about the CD/DVD burning because I never do it but my son and his friends are quite savvy about it all. I suppose if there was no alternative Heaven and Earth would be moved to sort it out - as it is he just uses the older computer.

Just may be worth chasing it because it may be a faulty drive and since its still under warranty.

If it is going to attach to a domain, then you will need xp pro rather than home.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
