Are we being taken for a ride!

So, we put our best and final offer in on a property on Monday for a house in West London. Estate agent says we are the preferred offer...however, they asked if we would want the garden shed and the fridge freezer.

They also told me they had an asking price offer but it wasn't secure as it was a lengthy chain.

Our solicitor and mortgage broker have both email the EA telling them of our position and in effect chasing for us. We have given a price for the garden shed and fridge freezer but have still heard nothing.

We have two other properties that we are interested in but are being prevented from putting in offers as they are on with the same chain of estate agents!

I have asked the EA to let us know the outcome today but STILL nothing!

Tell them your offer expires at close of business today and then put in offers on other property tomorrow?

    Contact vendor direct to discuss?

Make offer to the other vendor direct if EA won't pass on offer?

Be patient and just wait for vendor to decide? They are probobly chasing the other buyer to see exactly how secure their, higher, offer is.

We did think about writing a letter to the vendor and popping it through their letter box with our final outlined offer - but we didn't want to pester or appear to keen or indeed go against the estate agent and hack them off.

However, we just would like to know where we stand. As would our solicitor and mortgage broker who have both been emailing the estate agent too!

They obviously do not want to take the shed and FFrezer with them. Tell them you don't want them and you will not pay for them. See how quickly they agree to the sale.

    * Do you have a FF now, that you can take?

    * How much extra is the add-on for the FF and shed? There will already be a base, which is always a problem. A good 8x6 ft. BRAND NEW shed, delivered, is here: -

I have used this company twice before, so has my son and 2 friends. They will deliver and erect.

IMHO, they are trying it on. Call their bluff!
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

    Thanks guys!

I had to chase the EA yesterday because we had no word back despite promises.

Its just all very bizarre. If it were me, I would take the asking price offer because ours is quite a bit lower but we are in a good position and can exchange in 2 - 3 weeks.

The seller and his (large family) are moving away and are about to loose their onwards.

I just feel like we are being messed around at the moment and we don't know if we are coming or going!
  • I couldn't get my last buyer to take my white-goods even for free.

He wanted me to take my second hand stuff away so that he could buy new.

I was moving out to doss in my sister's for a few weeks pending starting a job overseas so had to dump it.

What a PITA it was taking it all to the dump on moving day!

(Ideally I'd have freecycled it but I couldn't find anybody prepared to collect within the narrow timetable required)

If they want more money then they should just say so

a fridge and shed aren't going to make a material difference so it's pointless asking IMHO

    Hi All,

God knows whats happening now! I have contacted again and got no further.

Part of me feels they are just waiting to get a better offer. :(

Don't know what to do. Don't want to offer an ultimatum as it might hack them off but equally. Other properties are going as the day goes on!

Hi, I would phone the agent and tell them your offer expires at 10.00am tomorrow. Then offer on the other properties you are interested in.

    We GOT IT!

Offer accepted last Wednesday and survey being done this week. Hopefully - as long as bank gets their stuff together!
