Meter Readings

Silly question to most of you I realise, but have had an estimated bill for a while now for my gas so have taken my meter reading number which is a lower number than the estimated reading number. Does this mean my bill will be reduced?
I have advised gas company and they will be sending a new bill, but am curious. Thank you.

Yes, you will receive a credit to your account that will reflect the new reading.
What is the difference between the two readings? One metric unit on the meter is about 11 kWh, one imperial unit about 33kWh. At 5p per unit that's £1 per two metric counts or £3 per two imperial counts (very approximately).0 -
Thanks for your help - the estimated reading is 1952 and the real reading is 1917.0

Okay, 35 units - so 385 kWh on a metric or 1100 on an imperial meter. Multiply that by what your bill says the tier 2 (lower) price per unit is. Say £20 or £60 at 5p per unit, £16 or £50 at 4p per unit.0

Sorry to sound very thick here - but not sure what you mean. the two prices mentioned on the bill are 'gas units converted into kWh 455.00 used at - 7.786p and second tier for the next 6018.32 is 4.414p. I am blonde by the way...0

Do you have a metric or imperial meter (it's marked cu m or 100's cu ft on it)? Then convert your 35 gas units to kWh using this site.

The bill reduction will be the kWh result x the kWh unit price (2nd tier) which is in your case 4.414p.
