You're both relaxing AND procrastinating so you are multitasking! Well done you!!

    :rotfl:

I'm a huge procrastinator but today I'm being productive getting my assignments done while my mum has taken DD to the library. But I am Queen of Procrastinating and Wasting Time usually. I see deadlines as challenges!

  • I have the same problem, but feel that I have very high standards and think I can do a lot more than I can. Also my body and mind forces me to switch off because I am usually very busy.
We need time to stop and stare to recharge our batteries.
I find it very difficult to get motivated, but set my timer for 10mins to make a start and then have 10mins break inbetween. part of not starting something is wanting to do it perfectly and finishing it is another battle.
Glad I'm not the only one.

One plus is that (provided you aren't tempted by internet shopping) you're not spending any money!!! So whatever your bank accont looked like yesterday it'll still be much the same whn you do get around to it.

Having a duvet day is vastly better than mooching round shops spending money you can't afford on thigs you don't really need. So it could be worse.

    Why not make a list!:D

List making is a fav past time of mine... :D Not saying I ever start ticking the list off tho.....my bank account currently at 63p :| so no chance thier.

  • Ask yourself what would you be doing if you were on a "proper "holiday?

If it's lounging by a pool all day, then i don't see anything wrong with lounging by a TV

If it's visiting places of interest than go out and do that locally.

If it's looking around the shops again find something similar nearer.(You don't need to buy anything)

Lovely meals out, why not treat yourself to nice food. How you do this is up to you and your budget

Get the idea? You're on holiday do holiday things!

I haven't done any internet shopping, but I have paid some long overdue bills and so the bank balance isn't looking too great now! I do feel better though, like I have actually achieved something.

I agree with wanting to do things perfectly, part of the reason I don't want to tackle my budget. If I knew I could do my budget and end up managing to save, then I would be straight on to it. I know full well that when I try and do my budget for the month it is going to show me what a mess I am in and so I am avoiding doing it!
  • I'm exactly the same way Katy - get a few days off work and absolutely swear blind that I'm going to be productive and it never turns out like that. The first two days are always spent having a long lie then sitting around in my jammies on the laptop. I will cook a meal and do some baking but all the cleaning / recycling run / shopping is left until the last day. :o

It's all about the relaxation when you're on leave.

okay - set aside two or three hours a day where you tick off all those jobs on your list (you do have a list?), then reward yourself with 'playtime'. sure the dog would love an extra walkie or a romp in the garden! phone a housebound friend and arrange a coffee date? have a look in local paper and see if anything is on which would interest you - then ring up and book a place! in other words give each day a 'structure'. sort of like a holiday abroad where you go on excursions - do the same only over here! and suddenly those 'jobs' might just become 'something else to do' rather than the reason you are hiding under a duvet on the sofa!

I have so much I need to get done: cleaning, budgeting, gardening, dog training etc

All of these are mundane activities aren't they. To have get up and go you need to feel motivated about doing something.

I would start with budgeting. Have a focus on what you will get out of it once it is done. If you can sort your budget out and find ways to have a little left over what will you put that towards? Would the thought of finding out if you can afford a holiday or some other special treat inspire you to get started.

Cleaning....hmmm the bain of most peoples lives. Start with the smallest room as that is doable in the least amount of time. It will give you some satisfaction of having made a start and there being a positive improvement in your surroundings. It will either encourage you to keep going or make you think 'god I need some fresh air' and you could then go and do some gardening.

Or you could just make a lovely cuppa, put your feet up for a bit and relax. Bare in mind that your normal day to day life may have taken its toll on you and left you feeling very tired. Taking it easy and just recharging is never wasting time. It is just accepting that you need a break.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
