Nightmare with Santander!

My condolences. And you are not alone with Santander. Last year one of my parents died and I had to give them the death certificate 4 times ... They have appalling disjointed systems. It took 2 months for them to stop writing to my parent, to put their accounts on hold and take them off my internet banking. And then they have started emailing my parent ... They are an awful bank.0

When he submitted the form, they gave him his fathers bank balance via cheque a few weeks later and then sent him a letter confirming all of their departments including creditcards are notified
which obviously they didnt do.
We just really need to get this paid as he is administrator ,and don't have time to send out letters and wait for them to get off their asses and do their job properly!
Stick to paper trail, phone is not the way to deal with this.
The job involves sending out letters and waiting/chasing
Santander admitted to us it can take 2 weeks for a letter to leave the building.0 -
On another note and maybe not legally correct but am sure someone will put me straight if not. If the bank sell your debt to one of the many debt collecting agencies that is their problem not yours. As the debt is with the bank you dont have to deal with these companies. After a time they will sell the debt again and so on until such a time as its passed the 7 year mark

FINALLY got somewhere today. Phoned up yet again and this time I refused to speak to the rep who answered the phone and refused to give an account number, just asked to speak to the manager of the department.
Was transfered over the manager, explained the situation,he put me on hold and came back & told me the 3rd party it was sold to was phillips and cohen and he gave me their number.
Phoned up the company, he told me the balance and now its paid.
So now everyone is paid and we can now relax.
Thanks everyone0 -

Thanks everyoneYou might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
no, no notice of assignment, but santander told me who it was, and gave me their details, I phoned them, and they had all of FIL details. so at the end of the day, if santander has a problem with me paying them then they can deal with phillips and cohen. as far as we're concerned the debt as been paid now.
sick and tired of dealing with santander0 -

santander already said the account was sold to phillips and cohen and not in their hands anymore, the amount was under £700. if they want to come back and say anything different, then they can speak to my husbands solicitors. they shouldnt have told me phillips and cohen and given my their number if it wasnt the case0

if you google phillips and cohen
You will see they take on dead debt probably (free) in the hope they pick up some probate work.
British gas hand over debt quite quickly
They should have warned you when you paid that the estates is liable not individuals.0
