The printer needs to be compatable with my main computer, desktop, Windows Vista

I've been looking at WiFi enabled - is that what I need to get?

You could ask here
http://www.epson.co.uk/gb/en/viewcon/corporatesite/cms/index/6
This is a list of compatible printers, though I expect this has been enlarged now, to include the XP Range

Once you have a list of printers, check the Epson site for the suitability of any, then google for prices, or post back with any you are interested in, in case anyone can find a better price0 -
With wifi enabled, you don't need a cable to connect the printer to the computer. Hence, you can print a document from your bedroom when the printer is kept somewhere else.
For homework, I reckon you'll need an inkjet printer as your DD may want to print assignments in colour. However, inkjet printers can be cheap (like £30) but the ink cartridges can be very expensive (a full set costing as much as the printer itself in some cases). Kodak claims to have the cheapest printing cost per page. Have a look at Kodak's website and see which one fulfils your requirements. Here is the link to that http://wwwuk.kodak.com/global/mul/consumer/print/en_gb/printers.html
I think the cheap ones are 1.2 and 3.2 all-in-one printers. Argos may have those in stock for £49.99 and £54.99 respectively.
Hope this helped0 -

I recently purchased a canon MG5350 wireless printer.
I was able to register this printer via google cloud which then gives you the ability to print remotely from any google based application i.e chrome/gmail etc.
I can therefore print via my smartphone/tablet or even my office pc. I think you can register any wireless printer on Google cloud but look up the detailsNo Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20
