Forum Guides

It would be helpful if a forum guide was actually somebody who visited and posted here regularly, we get a lot of very old threads bumped, a forum guide who visited here could extract that post from a thread into a new one and actually close that thread to stop it being bumped again.

We have 3 guides here, crabman comes here at times, but I have never seen the other two at all ever here. I suggest and nominate Coupon Mad to be one, how can you nominate someone to be one ? That's if she wants it of course ;)
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Forum monitors are not usually high contributors to forum threads themselves as they are assumed to take a visibly objective detached view.

I would rather have Coupon-Mad making lots of posts and even being contentious than being constrained as a forum guide.

Same goes for many of the regulars.

You are mistaking forum guides to forum moderators on here, guides don't make moderating decisions like on other boards, they are there purely to help things run smoothly. I don't get the idea of guides in a forum that they don't visit. I help run a board with a team of people who are actually moderators and are chosen on the merits of being contributing members.

Perhaps this will help you know what guides do here, this forum would run a lot better if someone who is active here would be a guide here, I can't think of anyone better suited to the task than Coupon.

Sorry, I was thinking of moderators. Support your suggestion.

    Seconded/Thirded.

C_M repeatedly demonstrates a dedication particularly to guiding newbies. She'd make an ideal guide IMO.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

    Hi folks,

I've posted on that thread (and CM would be a great board guide :D) but would just say in addition to what I've posted there that just because you don't see us posting doesn't mean we aren't moving posts/threads around.

When I split a post into a new thread, for example, I'll send the member a private message (PM) with a link to the newly created thread. I sometimes post on the new thread, but it seems a bit pointless if the newbie doesn't know where the thread is (remember - new members to MSE don't have thread subscriptions enabled by default so they can't easily track their posts until they've enabled it in the forum options).

It's incredibly rare that I come across a thread where a worried member hasn't received excellent advice already, so I figure there isn't much point posting to repeat what's already been said.

Also I can't emphasise enough how helpful it is when someone sends one of us a PM about a post that needs to be moved into a new thread.
