No Service History, Where do i go from here?
Options
Around 1 year ago i purchased a 2009 Focus Zetec S from a popular dealership called 'Quicks'. I saw the car on auto trader on dealership deal of the day and purchased it that day, now the whole process was very fast and whilst processing the paperwork i somewhere missed out the service history without realising.
The car had been just MOT'd by them and taxed so it slipped my mind being my first car ive ever purchased i was just eager to drive it away that day which i did.
Now around 2 months after i realised i have no history of this cars services etc, just one MOT sheet from the dealership. I emailed and call on several occasions but nobody ever even got back to me.
Now nearly a year later im still left without a service history, what can i do im very eager to sort this out?
Kind Regards

Get it serviced and MOT'd.
Perhaps Ford would be able to tell you any servicing history they have on file. Go into a dealership and ask?0 -
It's not mandatory to have a service history. The car may not have one.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Firstly I would check the V5 to see the previous owner details, if it was a Company, I would phone & ask for details & if it was a private individual I would phone the Ford dealers in the area that they lived.
I've done this before & had a good response
Good luck0 -
Sorry i took so long to reply thank you for all the replies.
Previous owner was a female from buying the motor. Can anybody please elaborate on the 'Not mandatory to have a car sevice history' reply?
I assumed all cars had service histories and this a vital yes yes when a car has one.
As for getting it serviced and MOT'd it got MOT'd just before purchase all i have is a paper copy to say it passed. Thats it.Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.0 -

It's the owner's choice whether or not to have it serviced at the main dealer or even serviced at all, so it may not have a Ford, or any, service history.
A service history is not compulsory but it will add value compared to the same car without history.
If you cannot confirm that it has been serviced, then I would get it serviced fairly quickly to make sure that the oil has been changed and none of the consumables, like brake pads, need to be replaced. What goes around - comes around0 -

You bought it around a year ago so its due an MOT about now, and probably due a service too.0 -
Give it a full service now, and ask for advice if it is due its first timing belt change. If it is already passed the point where the TB would be changed then get it changed now.0

It means there is nothing making it mandatory for any dealer to sell a car with paperwork detailing it's repair/servicing history. This is something you find as part of pre-purchase checks. IE 'do you have a documented history of the car so I can see how regularly the engine was serviced and what repairs have been carried out in the past?'I assumed all cars had service histories and this a vital yes yes when a car has one.
Yes all cars have a service history... isn't always documented though and many don't build a paper trial detailing what was done and when.As for getting it serviced and MOT'd it got MOT'd just before purchase all i have is a paper copy to say it passed. Thats it.
Time for you to start detailing the vehicles history.0
