Flight seats

Just booked flights and hotel with British Airways to New York later in the year and if we book seats now so we all sit together it is going to cost almost £200, but if we leave it until 24hours before we fly it would be free, anyone know what the chances are of us sitting together if we leave booking seats until 24hours before we fly?

Are you all adults?
I have never pre-booked my seats with BA...just always done it when I check in the machines at the airport.Happy0 -
We are a family of 30

£200, seems steep! I would just do it when you check in online. I really dont think you will have any problem to sit together. People worry too muchHappy0

There will be something in the region of 125-180 economy seats on the plane, it will be incredibly unlikely that amongst all that you can't get 3 seats next to each other. Especially if you check-in as soon as it opens (24hrs before).0

They always seat families together, even if it means shifting other people. Don't worry about it. It can be problem for larger groups. I once watched a party of twenty kicking off about not being able to sit together, having arrived about 30 seconds before checkin closed. But a family will never be separated, other than in the most extreme situations.
It's also the reason why people travelling on their own with seat pre-allocations are more likely to get upgrades. They're often in the way and the easiest way to clear them is to kick them up a class.0 -
Just do it 24 hours beforehand on the on line check in for free.0

You will almost certainly be sat together without having to pre-book seats.0

How odd, I'm flying with Virgin in a month and was allowed to reserve seats 90 days before the flight. Yet another reason to go with them over BA for me.0

Every airline has their own rules, not really that oddtravelover0

How odd that they haven't closed up this quality gap is what I mean. OP is fretting over seating when it could have been done and dusted 90 days before the flight. Not a great start to the experience.0
