There was never a magic keyword density number, but density is important. Writing natural is great for the user who doesn't want to read spammy English, but you need to put keywords in the right place still if you want to rank.

Linking out isn't as beneficial as you are making it out to be :rotfl: linking to authority helps the authority, it may help google understand what your page content is about easier, but whether it propels you in the serps, not really.
