Evans Halshaw - Servicing Scam

Evans Halshaw Sheffield and Alphera Financial Services are dishonest Traders. I would not go near them for any reason. I went to Evans Halshaw Sheffield to buy a car on hire purchase and they did not do anything properly as prescribed by law. I bought the car for my husband and wanted it to be in his name so they advised he has to come in and sign the finance document. Evans Halshaw was aware from start that I was the purchaser and they asked me to sign the New Vehicle Order form as Purchaser which I did before they ordered the vehicle but now because they did not provide me with any of the documents or information as prescribed by law they now claim I was only negotiator. Even a negotiator has the right to Pre contract information etc as that is what should be provided to help them decide if they wanted the finance or not.
When I started I asked what the interest rate would be for taking out finance over 4 years and they said 2.99% fixed. I asked if there was any hidden charges I needed to know about and they said no but actually 2.99% was not he answer to my question as the real interest rate for taking out finance over 4 years was more than 11%. What they did was tell me the interest rate per annum when what I wanted was for 4 years
Then they got my husband to sign the finance documents and NEVER let him take away any of the finance document claiming they were not allowed to do that and only the finance company could do that and usually by post. They said that to my husband and also wrote it in a letter to us. Now they claim they gave all the documents to my husband after he signed them. They also claim they gave us documents they never gave us. We asked for proof and they claim a few weeks after we bought our car there was a catastrophic event that wiped off data from their system up till the next month
3 of the signed signatures are 100% clearly NOT my husband's signature. The person who signed on behalf of the company never administered any document to my husband.
We bought the car end of Sept 2014 brand New and We never got any finance document we signed because Evans Halshaw claimed the finance company had to give them to us. The finance company never sent them to us and when requested we got them 3 Nov 2014. We asked to be given the opportunity to exercise our statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days after receiving the contract but they refused and insisted on penalizing us since the 14 day withdrawal period had expired but truth is we never received any finance document till more than one month after we signed the documents. We wanted to withdraw because it was not what interest rate they told us that they wrote in the finance document which explains why they never gave us any finance document as prescribed by law
Its all so complicated and so I cannot put everything in writing. The only thing they did right was order the vehicle get my husband to sign the finance document and after that it has been lies upon lies and even gone as far as providing documents with signatures that are not my husband's signatures just to cover their back. The complaints Manager is something else. Distorting information and lots of lies just to cover their back. Alphera Financial Services supported everything Evans Halshaw their partner in crime have said regarding this issue.
I have taken this further and still awaiting a decision.
RUN RUN RUN away for your dear life anywhere you see Evans Halshaw or Alphera Financial Services as all they are waiting to do is take away your heard earned money through dishonest means and without regard to legislation. They have no regard for consumer rights at all
My Honest Advise
1. Do NOT have any dealings with Evans Halshaw or Alphera Financial Services as they are very dishonest
2. If you must Ask for APR before ever considering any dealing with them and if they dont give it RUN for your dear Life
3. Get everything in writing and INSIST on taking away EVERY single document you sign
4. Request for a Pre Contract Information and insist on taking it away before you ever sign any contract
5. Do NOT sign a contract without reading through the whole document. Specifically ask for the terms and conditions.
Just contact me if you need more information and I will explain further0 -
The automotive industry (namely: car dealerships) have a terrible habit of assuming everyone who walks through the door is an idiot and whatever they say is right.
You rarely get a straight answer to a question I find... (Except with my local toyota dealer who bend over backwards for you.. wish I never sold mine now!)
I have same problem with EH Sheffield. Asked a simple question of what is interest rate of taking out finance over 4 years and he said 2.99% fixed rate. Got contract and it turned out that the 2.99% was per annum not for the 4 years. I have taken this further0 -
The Service plan they sold me was a 12500 mile annual service. The cars Maintenance and Warranty guide tells me that the periodicity of servicing for a 1.4 diesel is 20,500/2years.
As you say, you were originally sold the wrong plan.
A 12500 mile service is little more than change oil & filter and count the wheels.
It doesn't matter what the car schedule says, if you are paying for a 12500 mile service, that is what you will get, and everything else is extra.
Full servicing in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations costs a lot more, because they have to do more things, which is why they are now charging you more to do it right, as the Service Manager is telling you.
Not sure if this is a rip-off though, as a lot of people would be happy just getting the oil changed as long as the book is stamped up, and wouldn't pay for the extras.
I assume that the basic service & paying for the extras is a lot more than the full service would have cost?I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I'm not sure what you're complaining about? The industry standard is to quote interest ANNUALLY. Hence APR ie ANNUAL PERCENTAGE RATE.0 -
Just had exactly the same with my wife's Aguila which has a device plan with Vauxhall (Stoneacres in Scarborough) where brake fluid change is in the service book under servicing every two years. It was down in 2014 but not tick for recent service in 2016. However we have just received a call two months later saying it needs to be done at a cost of £45. When I checked the mechanics job sheet for the recent service brake fluid change had been ticked.
The service guy told me it was no longer part of the service plan but my service contract only mentions engine flushes and fuel additives as extra. He was adamant that Vauxhall had removed it and could only suggest that the mechanic had ticked it by mistake. What else ticked or not ticked by mistake. I will give him his due as he has offered a free fluid change this time but only because they have been caught out!0 -
At main dealers, they employee mostly unskilled apprentices as motor technicians and the job times are usually so unrealistic that half the work doesn't actually get done. The technicians just tick off everything on the sheet, sometimes not even touching the car. Which is why I would never trust a full main dealer service history. It's not beyond them to falsify a empty service history on a used car they're trying to sell.
A good rule of thumb in life, is you can't trust any technical work carried out at a place run by salesmen and accountants, half the time at dealerships the salesmen that don't get fired (for not selling enough) get promoted to any and all managerial positions (even those they're not qualified for).
As for brake fluid, if it's less than a couple years old, if it's light yellow in colour then your in the clear.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Quite common to be charged extra for break fluid change, it is a good earner for the dealers as in most cases they probably don't even bother to change it0
