Insurance company failed to collect Direct Debit
Hi
My car insurance company failed to collect my direct debit instruction for two years due to an admin error at their end, and are now asking for the full two years to be paid, over £700. I moved to another insurer before suddenly finding this out with a letter the week before Christmas.
I wrote to them saying it was too much to expect to pay and they have offered to reduce it a bit. Anyone any idea how to proceed with this to get it reduced further? Preferably to zero since it's their fault?
Anyone else had the same problem? My broker said I wasn't alone.
Thanks

They can pursue you for the money I think its up to 5-6 years assuming the debt can be proved. If you dont pay the money assuming the debt is owed they could sell the debt on and debt company could chase you and or you could have a bad credit rating if you dont pay0

They will ask nicely for payment if you dont arrange a sensible payment option they may pass it onto deb collectors.
Arrange to pay them £20 a week or something.
Its their fault for not taking it but you still owe it. And they can take you to court for payment. So make a sensible offer.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
