Placed an order online with Ideal World last week and had confirmation and a delivery date and they took payment off my card.
Just had an email from them saying they have refunded me, no explanation as to why and my online order still shows processing and delivery date.
Had to ring them (at cost to me) to be told item out of stock so they have refunded.... Why do they show items in stock online if they are obviously not in stock????
This is the second order they have done this to me. The last time, there was no email, the money just went back onto my card. Once again the online system still said processing so I had to call them to find out what was happening.
If you are going to order through them, be careful as you may not actually get your goods.

You've had a narrow escape. Most of their products are pretty shoddy quality if they ever arrive.0

I would agree with that.
The goods seem to take twice as long and are very poorly packaged as well.0 -
Ideal World are dreadful with zero customer service. I bought an item on line, during a live show and it was clearly still in stock. The item was never delivered so it was either lost or stolen in transit.
It took me weeks and lots of expensive phone calls to get a refund. What annoyed me most of all was their complete inability to understand either my frustation or the situation. They have an overseas call centre where the staff read from a script as I had the same responses each time. When I finally got my refund there was no explanation or apology via e-mail.
I refer to them as "God Forsaken World" now and wouldn't buy anything from them if my life depended on it. Indeed I honestly don't understand how they stay in business or manage to deliver anything at all.
On the rare ocassions I have a problem with a John Lewis order, they have quickly assessed what is wrong and taken the right action to put it right. Is this really such a difficult business model to emulate?!!0 -
The other problem with IW is that they charge you for your initial phone call at a price per minute, not as other channels, where it is a fixed charge or even free.
When you ring them to order, they try to sell you other items before they complete taking your order, thereby causing you to run up a call cost of several £££s and netting them a good proportion of that cost.0
