First Direct Current Account application

Just looking for others' experiences really.
I applied for an FD account about three weeks ago - they phoned me within the first week since applying asking for a certified document or PAYE coding notice - I sent them the coding notice.
They've phoned again today querying my employers address as it's in London despite me living in Yorkshire - basically I work from home as my role is primarily field based. She seemed to go away happy.
I'm hoping after all this that my application has been successful - why I didn't just walk into a high street bank I don't know - it's been anything but simple so far..
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

I would of stuck two fingers up and walked into a high street branch.0 -
When I applied for a first direct current account along time ago it was quiet a painful process.
They wanted reassurance my salary would be paid direct into my account. Said this would not be possible working for a bank I have to have my salary paid into a RBSG account.
They even called me at work to verify my employment status etc.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

That just shows that high street branches will accept whatever anyone tells them without checking.

However I do appreciate first direct are quiet choosy who they accept as customers.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

I only opened my FD account a few months ago. Only problem I had was providing enough ID as I'd recently moved in with OH so no bills were in my name, and all banking/mobile stuff is done online with nothing being posted out!
Otherwise pain free!! Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -

I don't mind if I don't get the account, like I say from a timing point of view I'd have been all set up by now if I'd walked into a high street bank.
It just seems a bitty process..phoning me with questions as they progress through the application instead of just agreeing the application in principle subject to me answering a list of queries..that's the way I would do it anyway..but that's me..and I still don't know if I have the account!Never argue with an idiot. I opened an FD account last week, all online, took about an hour all told, including setting up security on the phone. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

So instead of sitting here pondering, I phoned them and sensing my less than buoyant mood she put me on hold - then came back and said the account's open - the card and stuff will be with you later this week.Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0

The information you supplied must have triggered a further query alert when they referenced N Hunter. First Direct are very sensitive and any slightly awry information is scrutinized fully as you've found out...
Making sure there are no discrepancies between the information you provide on applications to banks / lenders / etc reduces the likelihood of an N Hunter alert being triggered prompting the financial institute to ask for more information.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

That sounds right izools - this is my first credit application since my employer shut its Yorkshire site and moved everything to London address - so what I said was totally honest but certainly different to the information held by N Hunter..Never argue with an idiot.
