Is adult cat food ok for a kitten?

Long story short(ish).
We got Gizmo the week before Christmas, he was 12 weeks old and eating anything you gave him. He came with a supply of different foods, IAMs, Sainsbury’s own brand and Tesco’s own brand that he was rescued with, the girl we got him off kept him on the foods and was slowly weening him onto Felix only. I tried slowly weening him on to James Wellbeloved Kitten but he wasn’t impressed with it so I stuck with Felix.
We have another cat, Salem who is 20 months old, he’s a very fussy eater and will only eat Purina One indoor regularly. Salem is mainly a dry food eater and will only eat ¼ of a pouch of wet for breakfast and ¼ for tea give him more and it gets wasted. The rest of the time he eats Royal Canin Indoor. Originally we were feeding Gizmo the same as Salem (1/4 pouch morning and evening) but it seems that Gizmo prefers wet food to dry. He was waking us up in the night and hounding us during the day for more food which leads me to believe he wasn’t eating the amount of dry he should be so we have now increased his wet food.
After reading reviews I bought a month’s supply of Bozita tetra packs which besides Salem licking the jelly off haven’t been a great hit. It has been suggested that I just leave that and he will eventually leave it but to me that seems a little evil to me.
As far as I can see I have one of two options:
1) Feed Gizmo Felix kitten pouches
2) Feed him Purina One indoor like Salem
I have no idea what to do for the best, any thoughts?
He does love cooked chicken breast and has been getting that as a treat as he won’t touch things like dreamies, whiska’s treats and the felix treats but I don't think I could afford to feed him on chicken breast only.
He’s the complete opposite for food of Salem who won’t touch tuna, chicken or anything like that.
