Outside Gas Box Door
My gas box door catch has disintegrated and the door won't stay closed. It's one of the small triangular plastic post thingys that I open with a standard triangular Gas Box key. How can I repair it ? or do I have to acquire a whole new outside box and then will I have to pay for a new outside box and installation ? Where from and by whom?

here is a supplier that may be able to help you http://www.meterboxes.co.uk/content/METERBOXESmeterboxes.asp?TypeID=1&CatID=230

I am sure someone will be along soon to say whether you can get this repaired for free by your gas supplier, but if that fails you can buy one from this firm https://www.meterboxes.co.uk/content/METERBOXESrepairsolutions.asp?TypeID=2&CatID=29
PS Can you buy 2 and send one to me LOL!

I'm not sure if the Gas company will repair/replace these as they are considered to be part of your property.0 -
My gas company sent me a catch free of charge. It was easy to fit myself.0

My meter reader carried a stock and replaces the catch FOC.
See.

The catch kit costs about £2, some ironmongers carry them but your gas supplier should send you one free of charge, if you can get through to the right helpdesk.0

I was told to ring The National Grid, which i did and received a new lock FOC within a week.0

The gas box is the responsibility of the houseowner, if the house is rented it would be the landlord. You can get hinges, lockes and key foc from the National Grid (Transco)0

Hi All
Just to let you know - I had no joy at all from Atlantic re a free replacement. The only communication was to tell me to get another key - Huh?
However I followed the links given above and got a replacement catch for £3.88 in total, so at least I can keep the door closed. Thanks all!0
