Evans Halshaw and my cars service and mot
Hi,
I bought my car from Evans Halshaw 3.5 years ago where I took out finance through them with Black Horse for 5 years. During this time I have committed myself to Evans Halshaw by taking my car to one of their garages every year for its service and first MOT.
My cars warranty is due to expire next month and I am due to get my car serviced and have its second MOT. However, I think the prices they charge are scandalous and ideally I would like to elsewhere but I'm not sure if I have to stay committed to using them until I have finished paying the finance off my car. I'm pretty sure I read that whilst my car was under warranty I would have to use them or have I got my wires crossed and does it mean a Vauxhall certified garage? Any help would be great! I've been quoted a lot cheaper than the £300-400 I paid last year.
Thanks!

Of course not. Take it where you like just make sure they are using geniune parts and follow the correct service book outline (what needs to be done when).
Edit to add warranty and finance are not the same thing. Even with the warranty (assuming you still have one) a VAT registered garage using GM/Vauxhall approved parts and following the schedule should be fine (put that in layman's terms)What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
check your paper work of when your warranty exactly runs out , imo no service should be near £400.
what exactly have they done in your previous services?0 -
Hi, £300-£400 cannot be for just a service. Most Vauxhall dealers would charge between £140 and £240 for a service + MOT depending whether it is a full or interim service.
Last year you must have agreed to some extra work to knock the cost up further.
Before it goes in make sure all your bulbs are working and your wipers OK.
A set of flat blade wipers from a main dealer can cost up to £40.
Check the car out first and anything you can do yourself sort out before getting it serviced/MOT'ed.0
