can i ask where is the cost of the motorbility car itself they arnt free i cant see it being the £77 loan but i could be wrong or has the OP duducted that to give us the figure of £800?

I have a Motability car - the DLA Mobility payment is taken for the car from source, so not given in the first place.

£50 per month on food is very little if you want to live on a decent menu with fresh fruit and veg. Also, if someone has food group restrictions or necessities it makes it that much more expensive. For example, I have a problem with iron absorption which means that the medical profession require me to eat meat every day, plus lots of green veg, as well as taking iron supplements. This is not cheap.

£50 per month on petrol is very little, even for doing local trips for shopping.

My car is automatic because of my disability and it barely does 30 miles to the gallon.
My hospital is 40 miles round trip - to see the Rheumatologist, two Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Occupational Therapist and the Orthotics Dept.

The OP most probably will have the same type of visits to contend with.

The OP will most probably have prescriptions paid for, as I do, which is wonderful - I have 8 prescriptions per month.

You cannot judge one life against another, and certainly not where any disability is concerned.

    Thanks folks.
My outgoings are all direct debits apart from petrol and food. My rent is my biggest outlay a month of £395 (private landlord so cannot expect help there).
Loan £77 then credit cards approx £40.00 council tax £63.00.
I have roughly about £60.00 a month to live on.Having to spend out on those items mentioned a month has not helped. I am £400 overdrawn on the bank. so my money has gone as soon as its in!.

    I will ask citizens advice.

Firstly, if you're single, make sure you are getting the single person discount on your council tax.

Secondly, claim for housing and council tax benefit. Always better to claim and find out you are eligble than to think you're not and not claim when you should have. Housing Benefit IS payable if you're in private rent and whoever told you it isn't is lying. Also your landlord doesn't need to know if you can provide proof of rent such as your rent book. If you get Disability Living Allowance, this is not allowed to be included as income in any claim assessment so if a good chunk of the £800 income is that, you'll get help with the rent.

Contact the charities mentioned and they'll help you sort out affordable repayments. IT ISN'T WORTH BANKING FOR £3k and I doubt that the judge would actually do it for that little TBH unless you could satisfy him you've sought professional advice and been told that's what you need to do.
