I'm really sorry, I know I am ridiculously unaware of all this stuff but i literally have no idea what those last 2 posts are saying? you may as well be talking in another language. I'm really panicking now that we are going to have huge bills and I don't know how to find out what type of heater i have? if we have an immersion heater? how to set the water on for a couple of hours a day? i literally don't know what to do.
Can anybody tell me in complete "utilities-for-dummies" style, what I need to do?
Thank you so much for all the help so far0 -
What is it you don't understand?
Do you have one of these on the top of your hot water tank? If so, that's an immersion heater for your E7 circuit.

That will be controlled by a switch or hopefully a timer. Set the timer to come on during your cheap rate E7 hours. 24/7 water heatin is costly and not necessary.
Have you actually registered yet with your electricity supplier? You should have taken opening readings and done this on day one. If not, you're on the default Standard tariff-the most expensiv. No free lunch, and no free laptop
