Delayed dvla license address change

My license is still valid but I've not lived at the address for 1.5yrs (parents still live there). I didn't get it changed as I thought I'd have to pay each time I moved - I've moved twice since.
But I know there's a potential £1000 fi.ne (which they probably won't inflict), but thought I'd still ask - still worth changing ?
Started the online process and they want address over 3years - will I get fined as I've had 3 addresses? And how much to change address each time? If its expensive or a chance ill get fined, I won't bother. But my actual license expires next year.
I guess I can say I just moved to this address hoping they don't check

My license has an address on it from 17 years ago. Never bothered to change it.0

You will get £1000 taken if caught
Can it invalidate insurance or prevent you being added to someone's insurance etc0 -
Don't worry.
Just change it to the current correct one now.
They don't even check whether you send the old one back to them so they ain't checking your credit / electoral history over last 3 years.
if you're doing it online for the first time it's likely they want that info purely so they can set up your online .gov passport account (identity check).0 -
£1000 is the maximum fine, not te fine which would actually be imposed. In practice it's not very common for people to be prosecuted for it. However an incorrect address could end up causing you serious hassle if, for example, you're ever required to send your licence in for endorsement, you don't do this because the letters never catch up with you, and the DVLA end up revoking your licence. (An out of date address on your vehicle registration document can cause you even more hassle, and updating one will not automatically update the other)
Updating your address is free - it's just updating the photo which you have to pay for. If you don't want to admit to having had the wrong address for the last 18 months just do it by post -IIRC you just have to write the new address on the right part of the counterpart and send it in.0 -
The address on a driving licence only has to be a GB home address at which you can be contacted. If you can be contacted through your parents address, you don't commit an offence if you don't change it, and you don't have to change it.0

That's great. I visit back every month or two so wont bother til I get my own permanent place, at which I'll renew by post (or when it expires). Thanks0

I have no idea whether that post is correct or not....but, I can only marvel at the fact you are prepared to simply take it as fact without any follow up research of your own.
It's so much easier when it's what you were hoping to hear.:hello:0 -

DVLA's leaflet INF 1D 'How to fill in your application for a Driving Licence', page 8.0 -
Been told the same by traffic police.

I have friends who live on boats and have no land based address other than accommodation addresses, some are family or simply friends other use paid for mailing addresses.
They have no problems at all. All that is required is that you are contactable via the given address and you are so no issue. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
