An average dual fuel user would spend less than £25 p.w. (in total) averaged out over the year on a suppliers standard (expensive) tariff.0

I think 'less than £25 a week' is a little on the low side for a expensive tariff and 6 people.
This for December 2012

annual consumption figures, averaged across all the big six suppliers and averaged across Great Britain.
Below are the breakdowns for gas and electricity bills. They reflect gas and electricity prices in December 2012. The average gas
bill for a standard account is £811 and for electricity it is £531. These prices are based on average annual consumption

Can you explain a bit more about your set up?
What boiler is it? Make, model and condensing/non and what temperature do you run it on?
Is it combi or do you have a hot water tank? If tank when is your hot water set to be heated?
What times do you have the heating on/off?
Do you have a room thermostat and thermostatic valves on the radiators?
How many radiators do you have and are they all on?
Are you on a credit meter or prepayment and who is your tariff & supplier?
What is your insulation like, do you have double glazing?
£50 pw in the dead of winter is still very high.CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -

The posters on DFW want to see unrealistically low expenses for everything. You spend what you spend. Try comparing suppliers and see if you can get it cheaper but if you feel your usage is reasonable and you have turned the heating as low as you can then your house uses what it does and there isn't much more you can do unless you want to be cold and miserable.:footie:
