HMV - 25% off marked price

Not complaints, just a general wonderment.

I know that there are some laws regarding "x% off previous price", but wondered if this was the same for "x% off marked price"

Last week in HMV, they were selling 2 Doctor Who blu-ray sets for £21 and £24. Today, they are marked at £28 and £32 but with a 25% off blue cross sticker, conveniently making the price the same as it was.

Is this allowed, or are they just being a bit cheeky?
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Some shopping channels, eg Ideal World, survive by doing it constantly.

Sadly it is allowed, as long as they have previously been sold at the higher price.
The Co-op near me does this constantly. Putting prices on things up to unrealistic levels then proudly proclaiming they are half price, the required number of weeks/days later.

Oh I know about that. I was wondering if the term "marked price" meant that they don't need to worry about this required number of days thing
