reclaimed postage costs after 2 years under distance selling regs

Some of you will no doubt think I am a saddo for bothering to do this for postage costs of £2.95, but it is the principle. I bought shoes in Nov 10 from Littlewood Clearance on ebay, and sent them back very quickly as did not like them.
I probably had not heard of the DSRs then, and was much busier, but I have since thought that they should have refunded their postage charges, which they hadn't. Finally got round to doing something about it, of course no records that far back in my ebay account but could find it all in my Paypal account. Contacted them with the transaction dates, they tried to fob me off with 'our records don't go back that far' (surely all business records have to go back 6 years for tax records), but if I ordered something now and rang an 0844 number first and quoted a code I could have free delivery 'as a goodwill gesture'. Have replied that is not satisfactory, they have now asked for the paypal transaction reference, so I am assuming they will now pay up.
I found a BBC news article from 2010, the OFT found that Next and amazon among others had not been refunding postage costs, and had been told to by the OFT, I bet they didn't refund postage costs which they should have paid earlier, and nothing about them being told to do so.

Wow, that is dedication. For £3 who could really be bothered... They will probably pay up just to get you off their back.0

Was it a Buy it Now or an Auction sale?
If auction sale DSR's do not apply
Under the Distance Selling Regulations, buyers have a period of 7 working days after the date of delivery within which they can cancel the contract (often referred to as the "cooling off" period) and get their money back, including the original postage and packing charges. You must refund the original delivery charges. However, you are permitted to require the buyer to pay for the cost of returning the item, but only if you clearly inform the buyer of this before the contract is made.0 -

It appears some people have nothing at all to worry about, so have to find things to worry about...0

Even if they wanted to refund you, Paypal only allows refunds upto the 60th day from payment.
If you wasted more than 15mins on this, go & find something more constructive to work on0 -
"saddo" ? who am i to judge? "moneysavingexpert"? clearly on the way!0
