F22 on a Valiant Combi Boiler - how often is normal?

Can anyone tell me how often it is normal to get an F22 message on a Valiant combi boiler? I have never had one before (a boiler like this I mean) and just moved into our new house recently.
I saw the F22 message and figured out how to top up the pressure from the two grey taps on the bottom of the boiler. I find that I am having to do this every few days now. Is this normal?
Once I top up the pressure everything starts up fine again, the heat comes on etc. We had the house empty for about a month before moving in, and the pressure never dropped like this, but the heat was also set very low and we weren't using much hot water. Still it seems strange that it was fine for a month and now needs topping up every few days.
Thanks for any help!

Not normal. When was the boiler last serviced?0 -
I believe the previous owner had it done early last spring.0

Check all the pipework you can and more importantly your radiator valves for small leaks. Use some tissue while the heating is on and wipe around each valve and then check the tissue for any signs of water. Use good light when doing this. It might not be anything to do with the boiler itself so checking the pipework is probably the first thing to check IMO. I have had small leaks from valves in two properties that I have lived in.
My radiator valves were in a terrible state when I moved in and 4 were clearly leaking and I have replaced two because they were so bad. I suspect that they might of been leaking for many years before I moved in because the neighbour had problems with damp the other side of the Kitchen party wall and that radiator valve was terrible, covered in gunk from water which had leaked out.0 -
Possibilities:-
Air in system, check for tops of radiators cold?
Leak, not always visible as the heat evaporates the leak, best checked when system is cold?
Expansion vessel needs repressuising, most likely, qualified GS operative required!
These need to be checked 1st b4 other options!
When a system is not in use it is at a costant, when it starts to be used the system is constantly in a variable from hot to cold and thats when problems often occur, as the system is constantly expanding and contracting with the changes!Signature removed0 -
95% EV gone flat.
Need doing at least every two years on a Vaillant, especially if it is an Ecotec Plus.0 -
Thank you everyone - I will try these tests around the radiators tomorrow, and let you know how I get on. At least now I know what could be happening and that it is not a normal thing!
Much appreciated.0
