HSBC online saver 5.75%

Is this a new offer? Came across it tonight whilst trawling the internet but can't see any dates attached to it. Applied for a Coventry Family 1st a couple of days ago by post and sent cheque but thinking maybe it is too much hassle and might just go for this.

Any thoughts? And can I close the new a/c without hassle?

Nope it's not new. Been around for a few months now, but it must be new to HSBC money.

You can close the other account anytime you like or simply leave it open, but don't use it.

Also if BoE raises interest rates by 0.25% next week the ICESAVE guarantee will mean it's rate will have to increase to at least 5.75% AER matching the rate offered by HSBC but without any penalties.
