working tax credit & child tax credit help please!

hi i wonder if someone can confirm a few things for me i am very confused!

as i understand it come april, tax credits and child tax credits no longer exist as it becomes this universal credit thing!?!

so could someone please clarify or tell me where i can work out what we will recieve come april.

my husband has just started a new job and earns £16.5k a year ( he may be able to get overtime but we dont know at present and it will change each month...so what do i tell hmrc for his salary as technically it is 16.5k unless her works overtime?)

i do not currently wk as it has not been viable to go back after maternity leave and we do have a student but we earn less than £4.5k a year from this (it goes under the rent a room scheme) so this isnt included when hmrc do their calculations

so at present we get £65.21 wtc and 62.09 ctc per week, my question is what will we get after april?

can anyone please enlighten me!

thank you for all of your help in advance

Firstly don't panic. For existing claimants it is being phased in from October 2013.

I am not that great at the calculations but I just wanted to put your mind at ease, as much as I could.

Someone with more benefit know how will answer soon.
  • ok panic over!! thank you! would love to know what will happen when it is phased in if anyone knows any more, but at leaset its not just yet.

thank you again for responding so quickly
