Contact the network the phone is locked to? I unlocked mine from Vodafone this way - think they charged £20, took a few days then I plugged it into iTunes and it came up with the 'your iphone is now unlocked' message. Not sure if this only works if you're the original owner though?
  • Out of interest, is there a reason you don't want to jailbreak?
I love adventures. Unfortunately, I don't get to go on them nearly enough. My simple solution? - To indulge in the digital artefacts of the adventures of others. Feel free to indulge in them with me.

It does indeed, among other things, but that might not be OP's reason =)

Yes ! You can unlock iPhone by using Remote unlocking method. It doesn't requires jailbreaking. You can get it from any of the service providers like Theunlockarena.com who provides unlocking service in online. after unlocking your iPhone, you can use it with any other GSM networks independently. :j

Update. Just for information, my son gave me his Iphone 4 after he updraded to 5. He restored it to factory settings then went on to O2 website ( his provider) and filled in the bit about unlocking the phone. It went along the line of filling in his details then they sent him an email with a code which he filled in online and then he got an email to say it was successful. It didn't cost anything. Hey Presto, it worked. I am now using it with my Virgin Sim. Don't know if it works like this with other providers or what you would do if you had a phone but didn't know which network it was locked to but just thought my experience might help. Thanks to all.
