hi all
my lovely partner and i are engaged. we have a few issues such as selling my house that i joint own with my ex before i can plan our wedding properly but we have been throwing a few ideas about and would love advice.
we wanted to get married abroad but that is defo out due to my mum certainly not able to get on a plane so we were looking at a package wedding in a hotel or something as neither of us would want a church wedding.
my cousin got married at leasowe castle which we were thinking about but after going i wasnt impressed with the place. we decided the whole show of it and formality is not for us. i hate being the centre of attention and would be dreading it i think.
so that left us with probably getting married somewhere small with close family and best friend and my 2 children so about 15 of us. then having a big party with everybody afterwards. my patner wants to get a band together to perform so the party venue needs to be able to have a band.
does anyone know of any good places that wont cost the earth to hire as we dont have lots of money and dont want anything bling

Depends what you have set in mind as 'too expensive'. My wedding was done for under £5000. This venue is gorgeous:

What about the Grove House Hotel, only a mile up the road from the castle. Google their site.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Why not look at a church or town hall wedding with a reception, party & band in a local hall, parish centre or hotel? You know what you'll be comfortable with, it just takes time & energy to pin it down

there are a couple of Facebook groups. wirralweddings and wirralbridetobe which are good for ideas. The Lauries Centre in Birkenhead is nice, and very affordable. Poulton Victoria, is cheap and cheerful and has a stage and big dancefloor. And of course there are British Legions, Rugby and Golf Clubs which all have function rooms. Hulme Hall Port Sunlight is lovely and not expensive. If you want the Hotel type: Brook Meadow hotel is charming on a budget. Inglebrook Manor is ideal for an intimate wedding.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

just noticed the bit about a band- we had a cracking wirral based band called Lemon Echo at the Poulton Victoria Sports and Social Club. Big stage, big dancefloor. Hire of room til 1pm was £150. Drinks are cheap too2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013
