Orange Textsavers

Anyone with an Orange phone that has Textsaver please check your balance. Although I have a textsaver I keep getting charged for some of my texts. Some days I get charged for all my texts, occasionally none, and most days at least one. I have been in touch with Orange over the past month, and still am, they are aware of this problem but have so far been unable to sort it! I was told that out of the millions with textsavers this only affects 'a few thousand'. They don't know who is affected until you let them know. They will credit you if they find this is happening, but if you don't let them know this will just keep happening to you. It had been happening to me for over a month before l I noticed my credit going down when I was supposedly sending my ' 5 free texts a day' I now check my balance daily, especially before sending any texts, so at least I have an idea how much they owe me, I suggest anyone with a textsaver does the same and if it is happening to them let orange customer service know.

This happened to me. It was because I was sending texts that were too long. If I stayed about 600 I was fine but when I went below the 600 characters it counted as 2 texts. I thought I was sending 5 free texts but each text counted as 1 free text and 2 that I had to pay for. Whoops. Its fine now though. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I posted the original warning and things have not improved. Orange gave me another textsaver on friday after all my complaints (though they would not refund the £5+ credit I had used up since my last call to customer services) and guess what I am still being charged approximately 50% of the time. Am I unlucky or what! None of my messages are long, in fact some are only a few words so it cannot be the length of my texts, nor am i sending more that the five a day, in fact most days I only send 2 or 3. I only sent 1 today and got charged!
I am now putting together a complaint through the 'how to complain' site as I am sick of this. Hopefully this matter will soon be resolved, though I won't hold my breath. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Have you checked that message settings on your handset as there is a special smsc number for Orange text savers which will allow you to send free 5 texts without being charged then after that you shall be charged at the normal rate of your text messaging service.
The Orange PAYG text seaver number is +447973100979
Hope this helps! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I checked my balance the over day which isn't something I've done since I got the sim. It was £2.69 (£6 in February). I only send texts with that sim and use another for calls. Although I may have made a couple of mistakes I am surprised it is so low and don't really want to have to 'top up'.
Interesting... Will have to keep an eye on it.0
