You may qualify for a Social Fund Crisis Loan from the DWP - you have to pay it back but it's interest free and seems like it might be what you need at the moment - not sure about getting a replacement washer but you could use the loan to buy one if you can't afford it out of your DLA and IS

I would always try for a community care grant first then you wouldn't have to pay it back. If they refuse ask for a review and if they refuse this then ask for it to be referred to the Independent Review Service http://www.irs-review.org.uk. The IRS is very fair. A washer should be classed as a priority item because of your disability. These CCGs are only usually paid out under certain circumstances. In your case you'll have to show you are under exceptional pressure. There is no definition of exceptional pressure in the rules but I would put down everything which might have a cumultive effect including your disability.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!

We got help in the way of a £250 community care grant last year for our cooker that had blown up. I am on DLA and IS. Please PM me if you have any problems.

I would apply for CCG first then if turned down you should be able to get a budget loan (%0) with no problem as long as you have been claiming IS for at least 28 weeks I think.

    Good luck
