Hi Tillymoo, could you save on OH buspass, could you drive him to work, or maybe he could get a lift with someone that works with him? Considering your plans, could you give netflix a miss?

Smoking is def a big one, I quit on NYD without patches, etc if you really want to quit, you can do it and it might spur your OH to quit aswell!I've noticed big savings with quitting!:T
Also you both have mobiles, do you need a house phone? I know with contracts, etc it might be hard to get out of!

Doing meal plans helps, I've only started doing it and it saves money. Why is your landlord not fixing the problems, surely there's a law that he has to have his property fixed enough that you'll not end up sick!! Good luck it's hard cutting back enjoy your festivals!!:D

Do you really thinking moving to a house with higher rent and bigger bills is manageable? One very good way to prove that it is is save the difference from now on. So maybe £260 a month? (More if there would be a difference in council tax?)

    My phone contract: £50
    OH phone: £20
    Internet/TV/House phone: £25
    Netflix: £6

£106 a month on phones and internet is really high. Can you get out of your contract? £50 is crazy! Do you really need Netflix? If there's nothing on live tv (I see you've paid for a licence), online catch up can be quite good? (And free!)

We spend between £50-£60 per week on food

£40 every other month on meat from the cheapest market I can find.

Do you find all the food gets used up, or is there any wastage?

We spend about £30 a week on tobacco as we both smoke (we do aim to quit soon!!!)

If you can't/won't give up now, can you swap to a cheaper alternative? I've heard people say rolls ups are cheaper than buying cigarettes?

We spend about £30 a month at the launderette a month, as the flat we live in suffers with such bad damp, trying to air dry just makes it so much worse.

Is this just on drying, or does it include washing too?

How would you budget / save for these? Obviously, inbetween the two larger things we will also want some cinema trips, a couple of budget concerts, a few meals out and a few nights out. Again, I'm pretty flexible about it all, but don't want my entire year filled with work and saving.

Where do you live? Is it a big town? If so, you could be in luck with free film previews and discounted food. (Starters for ten: ShowFilmFirst, Tell Ten, Tastecard, Toptable.) If you live somewhere more rural, you won't have the same opportunities.
