Help - AVG doesn't like my E-mails

Hi

I recently downloaded the free AVG antivirus software from Grisoft to my PC (Windows 98) and have been quite happy with it.

My friend has just bought her first PC (Windows XP) and I recommended using this anti virus software.

We downloaded it tonight and for some reason it won't allow Outlook Express to connect to NTL World's Server to look for her e-mails.

When we uninstall AVG again, Outlook Express works fine, connecting to NTL and downloading e-mails that are there.

When we installed AVG it automatically set up the settings for checking e-mails but we don't know what to change to make it work.

We tried re-installing it and the same problem occurred again.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had a problem sending non-Hotmail e-mails from OE under AVG.

To fix it I had to alter the mail server for outgoing e-mails to the one used by my ISP.

Thank you very much for your help. Not beinf very technically minded, I am a bit confused, the Broadband and Internet Service is provided by NTL and her e-mails are also through NTL so would the mail server just be the same or could it be something different? If it could be different then how would I find out what to put?

Thanks Mr Skint - I have had a look at this forum and that person has had the exact same message. We shall try the suggestions/solution posted on the forum tonight and hopefully that might sort the problem.

No, I was trying to send Yahoo e-mails. My old ISP & firewall allowed me to use the Yahoo mail server, but I couldn't do that with the new ISP & firewall and I was getting lots of returned e-mail from AVG.

it wasn't until I changed to the mail server for my new ISP that the e-mails were successfully sent
