Am I using a lot of energy?

Options
I am totally unsure as whether we're using a lot/little of energy. I think it seems rather high but I could be wrong.

Bill period Number of days Total Daily Average Total Daily Average
17/10/12 - 15/01/13 91 n/a n/a 2310 25
16/10/12 - 15/01/13 92 739 8 n/a n/a

The top one is gas, the bottom electricity.
so gas 25 units/day and elec 8 units/day on average

Combi boiler on for 1 hour in morn 3 hours in eve.
Out of those 90 days for almost a month there was very little going on in the house with the heating on only an hour a day.
3 people living in the flat.

Just wondering if this seems right or we should be trying to save more? (it's never even warm!)

If you think it's high then it's high...although...in my opinion it's quite good.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Hiya, I think your fuel bills are less than mine! Then I have a 3 bed semi.
I would be happy with 8 kWh a day plus gas.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)
  • I'm a sole occupier in a three bedroom semi. It's got double glazing, solar power, cavity wall insulation and full loft insulation and my daily averages from last September are 7.6kW for electricity and 35kW for gas. My gas boiler is on for three hours in the morning and six hours in the evening. So your figures look quite good allowing for a month of quite low usage.

But is your house warm? Mine isn't! It's just on enough so we don't freeze...

Most of the time it is OK. My living room heats to 70F/21C when the heating is on and can drop to about 64F/18C when it's off. In really cold weather it drops to about 61F/16C when the heating is off. So in the really cold spell in January during the day when the heating was off, a bit of additional clothing was required. :) I'm in the house most of the time.

This improvement in temperatures in the house has come about since getting full double glazing and cavity wall insulation. I don't have figures for before then but I do remember that the house could be very cold in winter when the heating was off.

    Jim.
