Best way to sell Stannah stairlift

My mum died last month and we'd like to get rid of her stairlift. It was bought for £5000 7 -8 years ago. It's been well looked after and is in good nick.
I've heard that Stannah et al buy them back for a mere pittance. Does anyone know who's best to approach?
TIA

There are other installers that might buy them, other options would be ebay or gumtree etc.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

the trouble you will have is that they are bespoke so unless you can find someone with exactly the same shape & diamentions of your mums stairs then it won't fit & sorry to hear about your mumI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Just looked at the completed listings on ebay, and it seems that IF you can manage to sell, then you are only likely to get £100-£500 for it.

My Mum had an Acorn stairlift. When she bought it we were given the impression they would buy it back again but after my Mum died and i got in touch all we were offered were some post cards to put adverts into local shops. When we realised just how little we'd get, if we got a buyer they were going to have to pay to get it fitted if they wanted any future maintenance on it. We decided it was worth more to leave it were it was in the hope that if the house gets sold it may add a little.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

If it's a straight flight of stairs, there's a good chance you could get several hundred for it.
If it goes round corners, there's no chance, as these will be different for every home and it will only be good for spare parts.0 -

I would advise against doing this, as there are several unscrupulous companies that reshape rails and sell them onto unsuspecting customers for similar Stannah prices. In the industry they are known as "cut & shut". A reshaped rail is an accident waiting to happen.
As for the original poster, I've heard the company do buy them back upto a certain age. It is unfortunate but the lift is @8yrs old. Ford wouldn't buy back an Escort after that time.0 -
I've been offered £100 plus free removal from Assured Stair lifts, which I've accepted.
Stannah said they would charge for removal.0 -
Stannah will charge for removal as the rail is scrap and the lift too old to sell them on. The other company will refurb thr rail (cut&shut) and sell it on to an unsuspecting customer who will believe they are getting a branded product.0
