What do you enjoy doing? Do you like hot weather? Are you active? There's are important things to mention.
Just going on the fact you're 55 and single - Tunisa. I went there a few years back and was bored out of my mind, but there were women of your age having a great time. You'll get a lot of male attention, its fairly cheap, the weather is wonderful and the seas are clear.0 -

Aye that's grand if you can't survive with our male attention. That or the Gambia
Op, what is it you want from a holiday ? There's so many choices nowadays that unless you know what you want, it's hard to point you in the right direction
Oh and I loved Tunisia , once I learned to ignore the unwanted male attention0 -
Turkey - I've had several holidays there on my own as a single woman. Not Rachmaninov
But Nyman

What about a cruise? There are a number of singles that go cruising and are well catered for on board with get togethers etc.
The two cruises I was on to the Caribbean had solo travellers, that we got to know, who all had a fantastic holiday.
Only downside is there is a supplementary cost for going solo.0 -
where does a single woman 55 plus go on holiday?
I've just hit my 50's but have been travelling alone since my early 30's when my friends were settling down and I had no one to go on holiday with.
I decided the only option I had if I wanted a holiday was to go on my own. I booked a flight to Toronto and off I went. I sat in my hotel room wondering if I was mad in the head before deciding I wasn't going to spent a week in a hotel room ordering room service. Each day I went to the bus station and took the first bus leaving the station. I had a fabulous time. Since then I've always travelled on my own and have been to Canada, USA, most European capital cities and almost everywhere there is a flight from Belfast to.
Last year I went on a beach holiday with a friend. Never again, travelling on my own has spoiled me, I hated having to accommodate another persons wishes on 'my' holiday.
Test the waters if you're not sure, book yourself a weekend in Barcelona or Nice. Plan your sightseeing days in advance so you know what you are doing each day that way you won't get overwhelmed or panic when you get there.
Nowadays I'm usually happy to just book a flight and my first nights accommodation when I travel that way I can go where ever I please.
Enjoy where ever you go and don't get hung up on the 'over 55' travelling alone thing.0 -
Have you tried Portstewart0
