For those of you that are using Jajah they have significantly reduced the allowance of free calls. The new rules are

* Your friend's phone number must be registered with JAJAH
* You have not exceeded the FAIR USE policy: 500 minutes a month, 150 minutes a week

http://www.jajah.com/content/freecalls.aspx

Previously both users had to be registered and active with a much higher call limit - 60 min per day, 300 min per week and 1000 min per month.

Comments

  • Jajah recently reduced my call allowance to 25 minutes because I had not credited them. Today the have stopped me using them altogether even though I have not made 25 minutes of calls.

  • I heard Martin talk about JaJah on Radio 2 yesterday and immediately looked it up when home. However I found the 'rules' for 'free' calls so confusing that I don't think I will be using them. There seem to be so many catches with these deals that anyone remotely cautious is frightened off using the service in the first place.

It had to happen some time as their model is unsustainable long term.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Be aware that the "country rate" shown by JAJAH is the BEST rate, not a fixed rate. Calls to Portugal are rated at 1.9ppm (hard to beat) but calls to one particular operator (Optimus) clock at 11.3ppm - six times as much!!

The rate is displayed (in very small characters) beside the CALL button. Make sure you check befor you press .... the higher rate is not competitive!

Another case where one size does not fit all !!

Welcome to the MSE forums macliam.

    I beg to differ.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

It is hardly surprising that calls to mobiles are more expensive than landlines, and this is actually listed in the tariffs
