We have the opportunity to stay at Crayton Bay in August this year in a privately owned gold plus caravan. Just wondering if anyone has been to Crayton Bay and their experience?
The reviews are mixed on trip advisor but the PR website give good detail of the facilities including a good pool with slides etc. I am aware it is not a huge site. It says the walk to the beach is about 10 mins but I can see on google a main A road to cross in between the park and the beach. also can you hear the traffic noise from the main road once on the park?
Thanks and enjoy holiday hunting.

Me and my two children went last year and we have booked again for this year. The park is nice and clean the club room is quite big, there is a restaurant and bar in the other room too. My kids enjoyed the pool although the pool isn't massive it does have a couple of slides in it. The beach is just across the road its only a short walk. Our caravan was between the main entrance and the club and there was no noise at night. Hope this helps0

Been to Cayton Bay three times in last 2 years and loved it every-time. Got a nice indoor swimming pool but its not very deep at all.
Nice outdoor and indoor playarea, bar/restaurant and entertainment area with a shop but only use it if you have to as its expensive.
Short walk to the beach and 20 min walk into the village for fish and chips.
We enjoyed it a lot. I love the East Coast.0 -
Hi. We live locally just down the road in Filey. I wouldn't worry about the road noise as the traffic is already slowing down as there is a roundabout which slows it down. It is only single carriageway and there is an underpass where the footpath is to the beach. We have visited friends on the park and they enjoyed their holiday. The beach is beautiful but the access is via is a steep hill and then steps down. A bit tricky for anyone with mobility problems or those pushing younger children in buggys! We use the Cayton Bay beach a lot in the summer as the sand is better than Filey's and it is not as busy. The park and ride system which operates into Scarborough is only a mile up the road which is convenient if you need to spend a length of time visiting the town. The traffic into Scarborough can be a bit of a nightmare in the summer holidays at peak times. Hope you enjoy your holiday.0

I have been to Cayton Bay a couple of times, its fine and a gold caravan should be lovely to stay in. usually the privately owned ones are a nicer standard.
As has been said above the beach is accessed via an underpass so you dont need to worry about crossing the main road, but the walk down is VERY steep and uneven, you would struggle to get a buggy down, also there were no toilets down on the beach but there may be some at the top of the hill. Its a secluded beach, no shops, stalls etc, which can be lovely if thats what you are after.
The park and ride just up the road is brilliant, to be honest we found it wasnt worth the hassle driving into Scarbrough as the buses were so regular (about every 10 mins in peak time), take you right in to middle of Scarbrough or at the edge of the beach. They run till 8pm ish and it is about £4 for a family day ticket, which is probably much cheaper than parking and fuel. Only thing with going to Scarbrough beach is you spend loads!!!!
There is also good playground for kids on the Cayton Bay site, and usually during summer there is a circus just up the road which stays for a few months.
We dont generally buy the entertainment passes so cant comment on the shows, childrens activities etc, but Im sure they are fine.0 -
i have been a couple of years and going this year
its a nice site and entertainment is good, there is a morrisons 5 mins away to stock up on food0 -
bandit country, went last year never again, but i can't stand the club and entertainment side of the site. on the plus side the wardens did stamp on noise or bad behaviour.
but for me it was the antichrist to camping. The futures bright the future is Ginger0
