Balance Transfer from someone elses card

Hello,

Quick question. Can you balance transfer onto your card from a card that is in someone elses name? This is assuming there is no marriage or blood relationship between the cardholders.

Most CC providers don't care about the name on the card that you make a BT from, but there are some exceptions.

some card providers dont allow this, but quite a few do.

One point to remember is the person whose card the debt ends up on it FULLY responsible for the debt. So if Person A transfers his balance to Person B's card with apromise to pay, then stops Person B is fully liable. and it's their credit rating that will be trashed if the debt isn't paid

As above poster says, YOU will be legally responsible for the debt.

This gets asked about once a day.

You just need to check the small print of the offer you have.

Sanatander will NOT allow such transfers but most card issuers aren't bothered.

    Ok thanks for the responses.

I'm not concerned about taking on the debt, I'm confident the person will pay it back and in the unlikely event they didn't I could afford to cover it. I'm in a situation where it's in my interests to take on this persons debt so I'll take the risk.
