Hi everyone, have made a chilli for tea and am sure I've read somewhere that you can add chocolate to chilli - anyone know how much you add and what type? Oh, and when? I have in some G & B dark cooks chocolate - do you think this would be ok?
Anyone know?
Thanks!

I've heard that you can add a square of really dark chocolate (the 70%+ cocoa type) to a panful of chilli - just stir it in at the end of the cooking time. As long as the G+B stuff has a high cocoa content, it should be fine0

I've had this too and it was lovely, my ex MIL was a great cook and always did slightly odd things but they tasted fab.0

I love chocolate in chilli and use a couple of teaspoons of green and black's cocoa powder. I don't make cocoa, just use it for my chilli - the little pots last for ages.0

Mexicans always put chocolate in chilli.
They also make mole chicken, which is chicken in a chocolate sauce. It sounds and looks revolting, but it tastes absolutely gorgeous. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Have seen cocoa powder put into savoury dishes like chilli but not the actual block chocolate. You could probably get away with using it where you would otherwise a yeast extract like vegemite or marmite. I put a teaspoon of vegemite into my bolognase sauce, might be worth trying with a teaspoon of good cocoa powder. If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0

It makes sense that it would work because cocoa rich dark chocolate really isn't that sweet is it?0

the g&B cocoa powder isn't sweet at all - it doesn't make the food taste chocolatey, just gives it a lovely richness in flavour and appearance.0
